Earthrise Energy are unique in the UK energy market in offering complete in-house turnkey solutions for both residential and commercial electrical installations.
They offer a comprehensive range of residential and commercial services including: Solar PV, Renewables, Batteries, Electrical Installation and EV Chargers.
Harrycb Ltd was approached to design and build a website to help market Earthrise Energy’s offerings.
Approach
The website needed to be eye-catching and playful but professional. Electric blue seemed like an eye-catching accent colour to be used alongside the fresh green and was used to create an electric feel in the background animation and button hover effects. The idea of the star animation stemmed from the theme of energy.
The theme of a rising planet was also used in the title underline styling. The shape of the bespoke hamburger icon and the animating navigation borders mirror the beams of light seen in the logo.
Further design considerations
Using various CSS mix-blend-modes, I found that the star animation could re-appear after the user scrolls. Rather than go-to-town on heavy parallax effects, I found using a subtle fixed background image was a nice light-weight approach to get an idea of layering when the user scrolls.
It was also a nice opportunity to show some of Earthrise Energy’s work. I found a black and white filter on the images let the blue and green pop in the design. The fading-in of panels also added to the playful feel to the user-interaction.
Due to the specific nature of the business’s offerings, all icons were custom designed, meaning that there is a sense of uniformity to the UI design.
Migration
The project involved a complete host migration, including managing the hosting of emails between hosts.
Technology used
The web pages are built in WordPress using PHP, HTML5 and CSS3 with JavaScript for the front-end functionality. UI design is done in Figma.
